I created the Junior Puppy Training course as the perfect next step in your puppy raising journey. Your puppy classes have got you off to a flying start with the essentials and given you a really good understanding of how puppies work, and it's important to stay on track for the next challenges you will face. Older puppies are more confident, bolder and a little more adventurous and mischievous… and then comes adolescence! It can be a difficult time, recurrences of puppy behaviours like chewing, recall going to pot, backward steps in training are common as are unwanted behaviours at home, having support with this is invaluable. Not only do we keep working on your training, perfecting things you have already started, but we add in vital new skills such as:- - Emergency stop (Don't run back to me across that road!) - Leave! (Don't eat that nasty thing!) - Learning to pass people and dogs without greeting (for calm in public - joy!) - Go to ‘place’ (for answering the door without doorway mayhem!) - Wait at doorways and getting out of car (both safe and practical) - Sit to greet (so everyone still loves them when they are big.. and muddy!) and lots more. In addition we have fun working on some very cool (and handy!) tricks, as well as testing out new training technique such as clicker training, and target training (as is used in training dogs for film/TV). I notice a huge leap in both ability and responsiveness with puppies who go on to Junior classes, it seems to cement their learning and really help them to realise you are worth listening to! At the end of your 6 week puppy course your puppy's training has just begun. Until they are a year old they need to keep practicing both training and socialising - otherwise it will unravel. Junior Puppy Training is a perfect way to do that, it provides you with great support during the most challenges months and ensure you continue your journey to having the perfect puppy!
